Keira Knightley has been chosen to join campaign by human rights group Amnesty International along with model Erin O’Conno and actress Minnie Driver. The celebs help to promote the true meaning of ‘human rights’.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actress has posed for the campaign, carrying a banner with the slogan “Protect the Human”, to mark the 60th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

She said the concept of the campaign should be something to be proud of although it has become “a bit of a loaded term” in this country.

The 23-year-old actress, who has made short films for Amnesty celebrating articles, commented in her support of the campaign.

“I wanted to be part of this film for Amnesty to help raise awareness of the UDHR and to help them, in a small way, to campaign against the abuses of human rights that are still happening every day,” said the British actress.

She added, “It seems that ‘human rights’ has become a bit of a loaded term in this country, but if you look at the declaration that countries made 60 years ago, it just sets out a series of basic rules about how people should treat each other.”

“Everyone should be aware of and be proud of as a statement of our common humanity”.

Meanwhile, Keira Knightley is reported to spend £2.5million on a new home in Shoreditch, east London.

According to the Mirror, the Duchess star and her actor beau Rupert Friend has already paid £200,000 renovating the house, which is thought to be bought in the spring.

A source told the Daily Mirror, “Keira was fed-up of West London. She wanted to move somewhere more bohemian and arty”.

“She fell in love with the house and can’t wait to have some dinner parties around there,” added the source.
