Kate Winslet‘s eight-year-old daughter Mia Honey criticised her dress which she wore on the Oscar night to earn her 2009 Oscar Best Actress Award.
Mia, whose father is Kate’s former husband Jim Threapleton, told her mother that she was delighted with her honourable reward but was dissatisfied with her Yves St. Laurent asymmetric evening gown after she received a phone call from Kate.
Kate Winslet, who was named Best Actress for her role in the movie ‘The Reader’, said on The Oprah Winfrey Show on Monday (February 23), “I said, ‘Hi, Mia, did you jump up and down?’ [Mia] says: ‘Yes, I did, Mum, I did. I need to talk to you about the dress it was gray.’ She was absolutely mortified I wore a gray dress.”
The Titanic actress, who reunited her co-star Leonardo DiCaprio in ‘Revolutionary Road’, told Winfrey that she had a lot of options of dresses but most of them did not hit her interest.
“I think in this time in the economy, it’s just not nice to have people make lots of dresses and you just wear one out of a possible five,” she said. “So Yves St. Laurent very kindly said, ‘We’d like to make something for you,’ and that was what we did.”
Stepping to the stage to accept her Oscar was “an out-of-body experience.”
She added, “You just think, ‘This can’t be happening.’”
The 33-year-old Hollywood actress is so obsessed with her Oscar that she could not stop looking at him.
“I keep looking at him and going, ‘Oooh wow’. Looking at every little piece of it, its very nice little bottom. It really is an outer body experience – you just think, ‘This can’t be happening’,” she said.
She was spotted covering the Oscar with green covering when she arrived at the JFK airport, New York, on Monday night after her journey to Los Angeles.
