Eva Longoria accepts $200,000 for charity

Eva Longoria plays an important role of a national spokeswoman and accepted a $200,000 donation from AT&T on behalf of PADRES Contra El Cáncer on Saturday (February 28) in Burbank, California.

The Desperate Housewives actress is the national spokeswoman for PADRES which is a nonprofit organisation to develop the quality of life for Latino children, who suffer from cancer, and their family. The money received from the organisation will be used to deal with the devastating effects of children with cancer.

“We are extremely grateful for AT&T’s generosity and commitment to PADRES and the Latino community,” said Eva Longoria. “The money raised will help us continue supporting families coping with the devastating effects of childhood cancer.”

The donation comes from AT&T’s third annual campaign, which collect money from over 130 retail stores in the Greater Los Angeles area in an attempt to raise awareness of childhood cancer.

“In times like this it’s more important than ever to provide help to those in need,” said Andy Shibley, vice president and general manager of AT&T’s Greater Los Angeles area. “AT&T has a long-standing tradition of supporting charitable organizations and initiatives that strengthen the community, and we’re pleased to help support PADRES in giving hope to so many families.”

There are approximately 1,500 children suffering from cancer in California and the majority of them are Latino. Cancer is one of the leading causes killing children under 15 years old.

“With nearly 50 percent of the children suffering from cancer in California being Hispanic, PADRES is providing critical support for families that need it most,” said Beto Cuevas, three-time Grammy winner and PADRES Ambassador. “Thanks to AT&T’s campaign, we can continue to help young cancer patients and their families.”

Eva is a kind-hearted actress and I do not wonder why she is living her happy life.
