Drew Barrymore, who graces on the April issue of W magazine, opened up about her relationship with her estranged parents.

The He’s Just Not That Into You actress revealed she has not kept in touch with her mother, Jaide, since she moved out at the age of 17 as she was a bad example.

“My mother and I split ways when I was very young and have never really reconciled,” said Drew, who went to rehab twice at 13.

Drew will play Edie, who is the devoted daughter of her mother, in the upcoming HBO movie ‘Grey Gardens’. She said, “Edie chose her mother over the world,” but her and her mother are “the polar opposite” in real life.

The Charlie’s Angels star also mentioned about her actor father, John Barrymore, who was an alcoholic and left her and her mother before she was born. He died of bone marrow cancer in 2004.

“He was so feeble, I could actually nail him down,” she sarcastically said. “He was such a flighty bird – unattainable and off doing his own thing. I’m sure it’s affected my relationships with men. I’m sure I’m sadder about it than I admit, but I accept that a lot easier than my mother’s and my relationship, which is more tumultuous.”

Drew Barrymore told W the moment she was sitting with his dad in his room and he starred at her bare feet and said, “Ah, you were made perfectly,” he told her.

“And I was like, ‘This was worth hanging out with you for,’” said Drew.

She has also made it clear about the speculation of her directing Eclipse, the third Twilight movie.

She revealed, “I’m one of the directors that is being talked about, which is great, because I’m a director now. But you know, they’ll make their choice.”
