Brooke Shields and her daughters, Rowan, 5, and Grier, 2, were on the cover of December issue of Cookie Magazine which she talked about her motherhood and career inside.
The 43-year-old mother, who is married to writer husband Chris Henchy, said the girls have helped her come to a level of normalcy which she never reached before. “It took having a child, for me to feel like I belong…that I’m normal,” said the supermodel.
Brooke Shields is determined to spend great time with her children despite her tight schedule.
“My version of being selfish has shifted,” said Brook. “My old version was to be comfortable, to get sleep and exercise. Now it’s my children’s worlds.”
She continued, “They’re not going to remember Mom was tired. They’re going to remember I did the weather chart or story time at school. So you just do it. And you’re tired.”
The Lipstick Jungle star also wants her two daughters to grow up as well-mannered children because she does not like impolite and bratty kids.
“There are so few children I like. If you’re not polite, you can’t come to my house. Manners [represent] respect and kindness. I want people to like my kids, and if they’re bratty, they’ll have a harder time in life,” said the former child model.
She said of what she learned about her relationship with her mother, “I feel like there’s a reason I had girls. My mom and I were very, very, very close, but we had no separation. My daughters are teaching me that it’s okay to have boundaries, that they want them.”
Asked what her prefect night is like, she replied, “Checking e-mail on her laptop while her hubby watches TV. That familiar comfort, she insists, is “as important as getting dressed up and going out.”
