Ayumi Hamasaki is singing the worldwide them song for upcoming Hollywood movie ‘Dragonball Evolution’, which is based on the all-time famous and favourite Japanese manga ‘Dragonball’ which has been sold over 350 million copies worldwide.

The Japanese singer and songwriter was named on December 9 as the artist who will sing the theme song for movie ‘Dragonball Evolution’ which will be directed by James Wong and released in more than 60 countries throughout the world, making Ayu fully rise to international fame.

The 30-year-old star, who is known as Ayu and regarded as ‘Empress of Pop’ by her Japanese fans, will record an original song titled ‘Rule’ for the movie which is set to release on March 13 next year in Japan (April 5 in the US). But the release of the song has not been announced yet.

The theme song will be sung in Japanese and used in every local version of the movie.

Ayumi Hamasaki said of her first time to sing for Hollywood, “This is a manga I used to love, so I’m very honored. I hope for countries all over the world to love the world of Dragonball.”

“I hope both old and new fans of ‘Dragonball’ throughout the world will enjoy the film.”

James Wong, an American director and TV producer, is said to desire a Japanese artist to sing the theme song.

“The theme song for a hit manga born in Japan should be sung by a Japanese person,” said the director, who is a fan of Japanese singer Ayumi.

She is considered a talented star who has been involved in four theme songs for Japanese films including “Kizudarake no Otokotachi” (Secret) and “Kaidan” (Fated) in 2007.

The cast of ‘Dragonball Evolution’ includes Justin Chatwin in the lead role of Goku, James Marsters as his nemesis Lord Piccolo, and Chow Yun-Fat as Master Roshi.

Dragonball manga is one of my favourite so I hope the movie is as great as the manga.
