Anna Kournikova has revealed she is now considering to come back to tennis court again especially in women’s doubles.
The former tennis queen joined an exhibition match in conjunction with the Outback Champions Tour event at SMU, Dallas last week and admitted after the competition that a comeback is at times in her mind.
“Occasionally, I get those kind of thoughts,” said Anna. “Maybe one day I’ll do it, but I don’t know. I don’t like to speculate because people start to ask me about it all the time, and they start waiting for some kind of announcement. Until I really know for sure, I don’t like to say anything because people speculate too much.”
The Russian beauty, who is considered a sex symbol, is more than a sexy star when it comes to tennis. Anna Kournikova reached number 8 in the world in 2000 and her specialty has been doubles, where she had been occasionally ranked the world’s number 1.
She won two Grand Slam titles in Australia in 1999 and 2002 along with her then Swiss partner Martina Hingis, and mixed doubles titles at the 2000 U.S. Open with Max Mirnyi and 1999 Wimbledon with Jonas Bjorkman.
Anna, who turned professional in October 1995, reached her final playing year in 2003 when she suffered from a string and back of injuries and decided to hang racquet.
The 27-year-old star, who recently kicked her Spanish singer boyfriend Enrique Iglesias out of their house because of his dogs, has been always rumoured to return to tennis court but she has not made it yet.
It would be great if she really makes a comeback, you guys might be able to imagine how much crowded and dazzling the tennis stand would be when Anna Kournikova plays along with Maria Sharapova or Ana Ivanovic? They are likely to heat up the tennis court!
