Angelina Jolie has been reported to be strict with journalists and photographs who want to snap her and her family’s pictures, according to a feature ‘Angelina Jolie’s Carefully Orchestrated Image’ by Times reporter Brooks Barnes.

The reporter interviewed two unnamed sources about the deal between her and People magazine or other magazines who bid for the exclusive pictures of the newborn twins. Brooks Barnes reported that apart from a large amount of money ($14 million) for the pictures, those magazines had to “promise that the winning magazine’s coverage would be positive, not merely in that instance but into the future.”   OOOH!!!

According to the deal offered by Ms. Jolie [wrote Barnes], the winning magazine was obliged to offer coverage that would not reflect negatively on her or her family, according to two people with knowledge of the bidding who were granted anonymity because the talks were confidential. The deal also asked for an “editorial plan” providing a road map of the layout, these people say.

According to Times reporter Brooks Barnes, People magazine won the bidding and published the pictures of the twins in its August 18 issue which was the mag’s best selling issue in seven years.

“In the People interview, there were questions about [Ms. Jolie's] and Mr. Pitt’s charity work and no use of the word “Brangelina,” the tabloid amalgamation of their names, which irks the couple.”

In a statement, People magazine denied there had been a quid pro quo

“These claims are categorically false….Like any news organization, People does purchase photos, but the magazine does not determine editorial content based on the demands of outside parties.”
