Alicia Keys has disappointed her fans after she came out and reveals she needs a break from music, instead, focusing on films since the singer had been working on her latest motion picture ‘The Secret Life of Bees’ which was released on October 17^th.

It is been around year since her triple platinum 2007 album album ‘As I Am’ released and her fans worldwide have been waiting for the next album of her. Due to the news, the fans might have to be patient as the R&B singer said to the New York Daily News that she wants to take a break from her singing career.

“No, I need a break, dammit,” the 27-year-old star spoke bluntly to the NY Daily News when questioned if she had been working on the next album.

According to the report, Alicia is going to temporarily quit her music career while she is preparing for the new movie ‘The Secret Life of Bees’, which tells the story of a 14-year-old girl who runs away from home with her caregiver and friend to a South Carolina town that holds the secret to her dead mother’s past.

The movie is based on a book and Alicia Keys plays a role of June, one of Boatwright sisters. She admits that she really loves the story and her role.

“I just fell in love with it. It’s a beautiful story, one not often told about this time in the civil rights movement. I just felt you knew the people in that book,” said Alicia.

She talked about her role of June, “For a while you feel like June’s just — what’s going on with her? She’s angry? She’s not embracing Lily at all?” the singer explained. “She’s a passionate, emotional person, but she’s definitely been hurt and it’s a hard time.
